Md Jobayer's Story

Md Jobayer has been in the scrap dealing business for about eight years. Last year he became the president of the scrap dealers association in Teknaf.

He used to be a shopkeeper before entering this business. He said, “Working as a shopkeeper was barely helping me, people used to buy things without paying any money and now I’m earning in Lac every month.” He also bought a hydraulic press with the grant money and reduced his spendings by half.

“Association is the reason my earnings have increased,” said Jobayer. He also mentioned how the training made everyone stop doing illegal acts. “Dealers became more aware. They are abiding by the rules and regulations after the establishment of our association and the training helped us to keep following the rules” he added.

All the scrap dealers can take a unified decision after UNDP created the association. Different opinions are helping everybody’s business. I will do my best work so the association sustains.
